The BVI Young Women's Association is a community-led movement championing the strength, voice, and wellbeing of young women aged 15-30 across the British Virgin Islands.
Our Story
The idea for the BVI Young Women's Association was sparked on March 10, 2026, when a group of inspiring young women gathered to celebrate International Women's Day as part of the Governor's Office Future Female Leaders Programme.
Following a panel discussion with Acting Governor David D. Archer, Jr., Head of the Governor's Office Ginny Ferson OBE, and Acting Chief of Staff Diane Drayton on career journeys and leadership, the participants continued their conversations over lunch. During the discussion, a question was posed: What type of programme could be created to better support young women in the Virgin Islands?
The answer was simple—a network and support system for young women.
The idea continued to grow when Acting Governor David D. Archer, Jr., encouraged the group to turn the vision into reality with two simple words: "Why not?" These words marked the formation of the BVI Young Women's Association.
